Verra created the Voluntary Carbon Standards (VCS), which are a global reference in the generation of verifiable carbon units with high quality standards.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Measure, report and verify<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>\u201cThe choice of the LIBS technique, together with Inelastic Neutron Scattering (INS), MIR (Middle Infrared Spectroscopy) and VIS-NIR (Visible and Near Infrared Spectroscopy), from a scientific point of view, confirms the work that we have been developing for almost two decades and which resulted, in 2018, in the launch of the technology\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.embrapa.br\/instrumentacao\/busca-de-solucoes-tecnologicas\/-\/produto-servico\/7682\/aglibs-10---sistema-com-inteligencia-artificial-para-analise-de-solos-na-agricultura-\">AGLIBS<\/a>, during Agrishow, in Ribeir\u00e3o Preto, whose patent we share with Agrorob\u00f3tica\u201d, explains researcher D\u00e9bora Milori, from Embrapa Instrumenta\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis technological innovation allowed the large-scale measurement of soil carbon (C), texture (sand, silt and clay contents) and pH quickly, economically and accurately, without generating waste. In addition, international certification can also boost the adoption of technology in new projects in one of the major corporate research topics, carbon\u201d, adds the coordinator of the National Laboratory of Agrophotonics (Lanaf).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur objective is to solve one of the main problems for the elaboration of carbon credit projects in agriculture, which is the MRV (measure, report, verify) of the carbon stored in the soil, in an economically viable way\u201d, comments Aida Magalh\u00e3es, CTO of Agrorob\u00f3tica , who was a postdoctoral fellow with D\u00e9bora Milori at Embrapa.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>billion dollar market<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>And it was precisely to meet the global demand for carbon credits from Brazilian agriculture that Agrorob\u00f3tica launched, in 2022, the AI AGLIBS platform, which allows certifying the carbon of agricultural areas through the quantification of soil organic carbon stocks, resulting from the adoption of sustainable management practices in the agricultural area.<\/p>\n<p>The platform will also allow, at the same time, to assess soil fertility and provide sustainable agronomic recommendations with the aim of improving productivity and contributing to food security. \u201cThe generation and commercialization of carbon credits in internationally certified Brazilian agricultural areas should impact the country, both financially and environmentally\u201d, says D\u00e9bora Milori.<\/p>\n<p>For F\u00e1bio Angelis, CEO of Agrorob\u00f3tica, \u201cthe approval of LIBS at Verra opens an immediate opportunity for Brazilian farmers to access the global voluntary carbon credit market, which in 2021 closed with an approximate value of US$ 2 billion\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn addition, it opens the opportunity for Brazil to consolidate itself as the world&#039;s largest carbon credit market by 2030, with an expected turnover of more than US$ 100 billion, with Embrapa technology helping to certify this carbon market\u201d, concludes Angelis .<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.embrapa.br\/en\/busca-de-noticias\/-\/noticia\/73554602\/tecnologia-libs-para-medir-carbono-no-solo-recebe-certificacao-internacional?p_auth=Ocd4UICi%3C\/a\">EMBRAPA<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Utilizada pela NASA (Ag\u00eancia Espacial Norte Americana) nos rob\u00f4s para explora\u00e7\u00e3o de informa\u00e7\u00f5es do solo em Marte, a t\u00e9cnica LIBS (Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy ou Espectroscopia de emiss\u00e3o \u00f3ptica com plasma induzido por laser) acaba de receber mais um reconhecimento internacional, com impacto direto para os agricultores brasileiros.
